When I Was Just A Little Girl

This week Prada's little sister Miu Miu (one of my favefavefave labels, and not just because of my precious handbag) announced that 14 year old Academy-Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld is to be the new face of the brand. Yes, 14 years of age, an Academy Award nominee as well as having access to an undoubtedly unlimited amount of Prada. What happened to holding on to your childhood!?! I am not saying this just because I am jealous (well maybe a teeny little bit) but how far is the insanity going to go? Next we'll have toddlers walking for Gucci's Ready-To-Wear line.

Of course I remember wanting to dress up in my mums beautiful clothes, although they weren't worth the amount of a months rent, but this obsession with children in fashion is just becoming a bit ridiculous. You can buy a range of clothing 'designed' by Madonna and her daughter Lourdes and Suri Cruise is already being hailed a fashion icon, is just bizaare, i'm not sure about you but i'm not about to take fashion advice from a person who still needs a babysitter.

Just days ago Chloe Moritz, of Kick Ass fame, was spotted going to the ballet in head to toe Miu Miu that was worth £865 - around 20 times the price of a frock in Topshop according to the Telegraph. Surely a girl that young should be wearing Tammy or New Look Generation 915, not an outfit that is something even a grown woman wearing would be in fear of ruining.

The fashion industry is forcing celebrity kids to grow up way beyond their years, and it's only a matter of time before kids in the real world start to follow suit!

Just my thought of the day (: What do you guys think? Is it just a case of expensive dressing up or forcing kids to act like adults?

Have a great weekend!
